MEDIUM- Rotring tech pen and ink SIZE- A4 Federation starships being assembled and overhauled in an orbital spacedock zone using the same kind of space construction frames featured in Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan. The Starbase sized enclosed Spacedock seen in the third movie was interesting, and probably more defensible, but these space frames have a lyricism to them that I like. I enjoyed playing with perspective with this one as well as monkeying with orientation. After all, it's orbital freefall, where exactly is up and down? You can look at this picture from each different side.... Sure, the space part of this picture would really be black, but I got a kick out of letting the viewer just assume that without having to show it. As you can see from my other drawings, I frequently like having objects breaching the borders, as with the warp nacelle and the corner of one of the spacedocks here which bisect the horizon of the planet.
